A Christmas party is often the highlight of the social calendar. There are many parties to attend at this time of year. If you are hosting a Christmas party, you might be worrying about how to make yours stand out. You could make yours stand out by having the best music, food or most famous celebrity at your party. But why not start from the beginning with the decorations? If your guests are greeted by a Christmas party atmosphere from the moment they step inside the door, they are much more likely to relax and have a good time.
The important thing about decorating for a stand out Christmas party is to think outside the box. You don’t really want to overload your home with Christmas decorations you have to store for 11 months of the year. Consider decorating with a few Christmas themed items, including a tree and perhaps some Christmas candles and then finish the party decor with Christmas colored general party decorations.
Confetti is always a good bet. You can get Christmas themed confetti involving reindeer, sleighs and bags of presents and scatter it all over the place. In addition to Christmas shapes, you will often find confetti in Christmas colors, so be sure to find some red and green confetti to scatter. Christmas stickers are also fun to decorate with. You can put them on any surface they’ll stick to and if you’re careful about where you put them, they will come off again afterwards without too much trouble. Metallic streamers hanging from the ceiling or light fixtures catch and reflect light and color in whimsical patterns and are a must for a Christmas party.
Your food selections and the way your present them can actually contribute to the décor of your party. For example, select beverages that are in red or green colors and place colorful Christmas candies in a snowflake etched glass bowl.
Balloons should never be ignored when decorating for any kind of party. They come in so many sizes and shapes that you should be able to end up with a couple of helium-filled reindeer floating around the ceiling. You can also get long balloons, teardrop balloons and a myriad of other sizes and shapes. They can be filled with air or helium so that you can have balloons on the floor, couch and tables and bobbing against the ceiling.
Last but not least, don’t forget the Christmas themed plates and tableware. You can find Christmas centerpieces, wintry paper plates covered in snowflakes and tablecloths and napkins with various Christmas scenes printed on them. Every time your guests look down at their food they’ll be reminded that it’s Christmas and that the time for opening presents is nearly here!
Obviously decorations don’t make a party, but they do have a serious impact on the atmosphere, so go as far as you like with the decorations. Some of your guests may not share your taste in Christmas party decorations, but it’s your party, in your house, so decorate to your heart’s content.
